It was recently pointed out to me that there is a finite amount of fabric in the world and that it gets used up as fast as it is produced. So where does it all go?
As styles change the distribution of fabrics change. So smaller clothes on women in one area is offset by largest and more modest clothing in another place.
This concept was driven home when my friend visited eastern Europe and realized that the baggy pants style in the US was being offset by very revealing small shorts in the country he visited.

So where does it all go?
To the Salvation Army.
-
Actually, it is Goodwill.

You're fabricating the evidence!

I know - I write fiction, too.

Okay, sorry, that wasn't even funny.

I think most of it ends up in the charity shops which seem to be plaguing our high streets, that is the rubbish which didn't sell at a boot sale!

No, It wasn't. Just being honest. What do you think Don?

I shall keep my thoughts to myself, I don't wish to rub anyone up the wrong way.

It's all gone into niche market of distress flares.
