Dearest Iceologists,
As a sheepy there's nothing more I like than a chunk of ice in my drink. Out of all the things that are added to drinks to keep them cold, ice is my all time favourite !
look here's some :

I did not know ice was Blue! Where does one find blue ice.. Thats pretty but I always thought it was sky reflection?
Nice Piccy will be good to know the answer.. because I do not know either!
-
Yes, I took that piccy myself ewe know. Fortunately, the arctic is part of my gardens water feature !
I'm surprised there has been no answer yet !...perhaps I should go ask my neighbour !
-
Where did you hear about or see this?
-
My son told me he heard it in a lesson at school but he *erhmm* didn't pay attention to the reason behind it....I think he said something to do with pressure and bubbles but that was all !.
Hey..ewe're like...well klevur and stuff....ewe must know the answer yes ?

no worries kiwi dude !...some ice bloke or bloke-ett will come along and answer....I hope !

Hang on!
I have found this though.... it might be what your son was talking about. Blue ice might just happen to be 'old ice'
Blue ice occurs when snow falls on a glacier, is compressed, and becomes part of a glacier that winds its way toward a body of water (river, lake, ocean, etc.). During its travels, air bubbles that are trapped in the ice are squeezed out, and the size of the ice crystals increases, making it clear.
In some areas, earthquakes have raised the blue ice above the ground and created formations much like large frozen waves.
The blue color is often wrongly attributed to Rayleigh scattering. Rather, ice is blue for the same reason water is blue: it is a result of an overtone of a oxygen-hydrogen (O-H) bond stretch in water which absorbs light at the red end of the visible spectrum

WOW !!
That MUST be it..cos glacial ice is like...well old !!..THANKS chemistry4me !!....see?..ewe are well klevur...ewe know stuff !...and I appreciate the link !..brill !!

Yes..yes we can take over the world and force everyone to learn chemistry whilst weraing wooly jumpers, stockings and high heels.....
...erhmm...and then what would we do ?

I hadn't even got that far! My head still hurts. [:-'(][:-'(]
