Title: Why do they put car polish in skin cream?
Post by: Make it Lady on 31/12/2009 17:39:13
I noticed that cyclopentasiloxane is in my skin cream. It is also in my car polish. Is it there to make me have really shiney cheeks?

It's to make you attractive to boy racers.

It's used to lubricate, waterproof and provide shine. That's the gist of it.

I thought skin was quite waterproof already. I can understand the lubrication bit. We all need a bit of that as we get older but most women don't like having shiny faces. That is why we use powder or matt foundation. I have also discovered that this cyclopentasiloxane is a sealant. Perhaps it fills in cracks too.

Can't say I've ever had the courage to put it onto my face so I wouldn't know.

Well, OK. But I bet you at least tried on the high heels?

Yes, I do try and be there every time at the annual high-heels run contest.

Boys, boys, stop with the cross dressing thing. This is a serious question (for once.) Have you found a chemical used in two diverse products that you would like to discuss? I love this topic. Come on Chemists and pharmacists, get your fingers out!

Geezabreak! OK?

I'm sure the crossdressing thing is not confined to males, or is it?

I'm willing to bet that the polish and face cream both contained diprotium monoxide.
The silicone you mentioned is probably present as a water repellant in both cases.

I hope it's not like the stuff they put in those products that are supposed to protect plastic from UV damage. It does make the vinyl look all shiny and new, but I can't stand the sensation it produces if I get it on my finger tips.

I refuse to get my car "detailed" because they always put the flaming stuff on the steering wheel!
