This isn't really answering your question, but simply looking at the fact that we ran barefoot for millions of years, you can infer that it's natural, i.e. good for our bodies.
I'm writing this sitting on my butt, where I've been for over 3 hours. Now that's definitely not natural for my physiology ;-)
