Hi, i've been looking on the net for mercury alloys but all i seem to find are amalgams. Is it possible to throw mercury into another molten metal (eg. iron, titanium) and let it cool into a alloy of the two? would mercury boil into a gas before they mix? And if possible what would the characteristics of the metal likely be?

The fact Hg boils before it mixes with the other molten metal depends on the temperature so you don't need to try melting Hg with Cu because Cu melts at 1089°C at certainly at that temperature Hg boils off immediately. You can nontheless make an amalgam with Cu at lower temperatures.
If you want to melt the other metal you have to use lower m.p. metals, for example tin, and a big, closed container.
The properties of the amalgams, as any other alloy, depends on the composition. The one with silver (don't know the exact composition) it's used for teeths, for example and it's quite hard (or it wouldn't be of any use, of course...)

I was driving in the car the other day, and for some reason i thought of mercury alloys again. I was wondering, do you think it would work if you created something like a pressure cooker for metal? Where you could heat mercury but the pressure would keep the gas as a liquid, then you could heat it up with another metal with a higher melting point and when they are both liquid they can mix. Not sure how it would work when you cool it down.
I don't have any reason to want to make a mercury alloy, it just makes me wonder because of the difficulty in doing so, and what a titanium mercury alloy might look like.

It is possible, but you don't really need that procedure: if mercury does form an amalgam with the metal X, then you mixes liquid mercury with a fine powder of that metal X and shake thoroughly, in case heating (in a close container!). They will make a solid alloy without melting (if mercury is in enough amount, the alloy however will be liquid); mercury here behaves as a solvent for the metal X.

Do you know how they covered with gold the churche's domes in Russia? Spreading a gold amalgam on them and letting mercury slowly vaporize. Unfortunately this was made by hand and a lot of those people who did it was poisoned.

I've used only very little amounts and conserved the compounds formed in closed tubes.

Same here! I had so much mercury in my teeph, my head used to rise in hot weather!
I inadvertently phound a way to get rid of it all recently. Having a toophache, I dephided to remophe the ophending peg with a piephe of stwing tied to a door handle. They're right, it doephn't work, but the door rebounded and the handle smaphed me in the gob and knocked the lot out.
