I've heard numerous reports in the past that eating food when it's been in the oven too long and burnt (gone black and hard) can be bad for us. I've heard various conditions that can arise from consuming such food, even cancer.
What's the craic?

But yes, burning food increases the amount of carcinogens. "Acrylamides" is the keyword, which have been classed as 'probable carcinogens' in lab tests.
On the up side - no calories.

Just getting past the taste might tell you sometime, medium rare to charcoal done.
I heard some stories that open fire or charcoal barbies can produce certain types of cacinogens, but that is from just cooking on the barbie. I have never read any studies of definit conclusions and I still cook on the barbie and outdoor grill I never seen any warning labels to the affect. Maybe any cooking that may have smoke associated with it may be not so good after all?

Ah very nice. Thank you. I had a vague recollection of a movie being called "The Craic" I might seek it out and watch it now.
