Title: Why are some posts shrunk?
Post by: imatfaal on 26/08/2010 12:27:53
Occasionally, in fact twice today, I come across posts (never mine so far) that have been shrunk.  they are shown on a single line in the chat threads as "a post by someoneorother click to view"  what's happening?  Have these poor posters offended the moderator gods?

I was wondering the exact same thing about an hour ago!
Is this a new thing on the site? - I've never seen it before today.

It's usually used where someone's post added nothing to the discussion.  Rather than delete the post, it is left in such a way that it doesn't distract from the conversation, but can be read if you really want to.

It's been there for ages - at least a year!

Thanks Ben, I obviously fail on the observation test.  I only really took any notice today because I had left a sarcastic reply to a slightly wonky post; the weird post became shrunken leaving mine looking like a total non sequitur
