Is it true that if you flip a shark on it's back while it is in the water it will lose conciousness?

catatonic state, same with a lot of reptiles, eels, all of the sharks, chickens and many other birds all have their nervous system shut down when placed on their back, inducing paralysis.

Which lends itself to my gravity influenced nervous system (He takes a bow)

Possibly because they are on the move, which means the whole body is on the move, especially at the end of the spine affording a pull on the spinal fluids strong enough to drive the circulation of the nervous system and maintain its function.

Yes I have seen this done with eels also. The eel's eyes are covered, the eel is laid down and just gently stroked from head to end. It's amazing to see it in a trance like that.

I trance my pet rabbit by putting her on her back with her head lower than her legs, works quite well for trimming her nails...
I assume most animals can be put into trances like this
