I agree it helps, but when I stop rubbing, the throb comes back. Why?

it is true it works but as gwenrow says it can come back after stoppping the rubbing, this is usually because of one of two things. The first being that you were rubbing too hard and caused the pain to generate rather than degenerate, the other being that you did not rub for long enough most aromatherapists use this technique to alleviate headaches and recommend rubbing for at least ten minutes.

I ussually find a paracetemol works for me....

Men are the same as women.... just inside out !!

The very first thing to try before rubbing is to drink a glass of water or two! Many headaches are because we are dehydrated - and because the brain is not a vital organ ( amazing eh?) priority for water is given to the heart, lungs , kidneys etc.
Now do you think it was the paracetemol that helped , or maybe the glass the water you swilled it down with?!
