Would the fact that infectious cancer in Tasmanian Devils are not supressed by their immune systems have anything to do with the fact that the devils are going extinct, and their gene pool has diminished to dangerous levels? Or could there be a gene in the cancerous cell which is able to suppress the immune system?

It sounds a bit too difficult to understand.
Could you tell what exactly is that infectious cancer?
Before mentioning gene pools and things?
Thank you
