Ok, this is not as important as the TOASTER thread but it's still interesting to get your sandwich orientated answers.
Do you cut them on the diagonal or on the vertical plane ?
I cut them on the diagonal ! giving me triangular joy !
Thank you

I scarcely eat bread these days, but in the days when I used to, it seemed quite enough effort to cut the bread into slices, and seemed really like going to excess to then subdivide the slices.
Incidentally, you allowed for those people who sliced bread along the vertical plane, but is there any reason that you excluded those people who slice bread in the horizontal plane [:)]

It depends on the filling. Bacon or sossie sarnies I tend to cut across through the middle of the bacon, cheese I cut diagonally. However, I sometimes cut toasted bacon sarnies diagonally too.
It also depends on the bread I'm using. Square bread I usually cut diagonally, oblong slices I cut across.
Sometimes I don't bother cutting them at all; especially if I'm using something like Danish Blue cheese as the filling. As that's quite crumbly, cutting the bread makes it more liable to fall out.
