Sometimes a gentle drizzle falls persistently (very UK-esque!); other times the most incredible deluge resembling stair-rods drops from the sky making it sound like someone is rapping on the roof with a hammer.
The raindrop size is clearly very different between the two extremes; so how do these different rain conditions come about?
