Title: Put Snow In a Red Room ..what colour will it be ?
Post by: neilep on 15/02/2007 22:43:47
Perhaps this is a silly question and will be a very short thread but Snow is white because of the way it reflects light yes ?

So, what colour would it be if it was in a  room with just a red light bulb ?..red ?

In a room with only red light, there are only two colours - red and black.

This is something that is noticeable in furnaces that glow red from their own heat - everything within the furnace is a shade of red, lighter or darker, because that is the only light it is illuminated by.

Ofcourse, this does assume we are talking about monochromatic red - it is possible to create colours from composites of other colours, and then the situation will get more complicated.
