Title: Global Cooling Through Enriching The Sea With Minerals.
Post by: Titanscape on 24/02/2007 05:18:12
A news report came up saying there is a plan to large scale pump nutrients kilometres out to sea to fuel algae, in producing Oxygen from CO2. With the bonus of creating more fish food.

And probably lots more toxic algae as well.

It probably depends how you do it, you do get problems with toxic algae when the sea is over fertilized and the local animal population can't eat the algae fast enough, but the mid oceans are very under fertilized so it should be possible to produce more animal life without overdoing it and causing algal blooms.

Yes, but if you get more animals eating the algae, then won't it undermine the intent of having the algae there consuming the CO2?
