Title: Feedback: Why would Pavlov's conditioning have led to dgs feeling more pain not less?

jon  asked the Naked Scientists:
I listened to this week's broadcast with interest.  It is interesting
that Pavlov conditioned dogs to feel as if they had been injected with
morphine.  I thought that the homeostatic principle would have the dogs
manufacture morphine antagonists, so as to minimize the morphine
effects, so that when they received the condition but no morphine, they
might well feel pain more rather than less.

It would be interesting to dive into this in more detail some day
