Hi Kat, Don't want to spoil the party but Factor IX deficiency/Haemophilia B/Christmas disease has been called the last name for a lot longer than 1993. In studying medicine in the 1970's I used Muir's Textbook of Pathology, 10th ed, publ1976. On p 501 Christmas disease is specifically mentioned as factor IX deficiency. A quick web search shows Stephen Christmas was diagnosed in 1952 and died in 1993 (Wikipedia). Your description of the disease sounded as if the name only came after his death.
