Jennifer Thibado asked the Naked Scientists:
I have found a bug that I've never seen before...
It's an inch tall, it's fluffy and has wings like a moth. It spends most time in the forest too and it leaves its fluff on your hand. So I was wondering if it was named yet???
Jennifer.
What do you think?

Hi Jennifer,
just from this description it is impossible to say exactly what you saw.
As you descripe it with wings like a moth, it is very likely, that it is a moth. There are thousands of species out there, not only some of them are very fury (see e.g. https://www.thedodo.com/all-about-the-6-furry-moths-you-could-easily-take-for-a-cat-1359725578.html).
Without a picture and a location it is therefore not possible to say much more.
all the best
