Title: Do dogs get synaesthesia?
Post by: katieHaylor on 21/09/2017 14:11:39
Rhys asks:

Does a dog have synaesthesia of smell and vision? Given stereoscopic smelling and restricted colour range, is their visual field overlain with colours for olfactory input?

What do you think?

I must admit that I don't know the answer to this and it's impossible to ask a dog, so I'm not sure how you'd find out...

I agree with Chris. You can't ask a dog, so it would be pretty hard to test your hypothesis. Although, it might be possible to make some indirect implications by comparing dog brain activities patterns to those of humans, using imaging techniques.
