Here is an interview with Roger Penrose. I tend to agree with him.

I'm biased in favour of Penrose, because he has a Cornish name. :)
Physicists will never come to grips with the grand theories of the universe, Penrose holds, until they see past the blinding distractions of today’s half-baked theories to the deepest layer of the reality in which we live.
We hitch-hikers could never justify saying something like that; but that does not prevent us fron nodding, thoughtfully, whe someone like Penrose says it.
