Title: ants (2)
Post by: paul.fr on 10/05/2007 23:35:20
What is the point of ants? In the summer they ruin picnics and want to make a home in my kitchen, say what useful purpose do they serve? do they help propagate or pollinate plants, flowers or what?

They are part of the food chain, and help to break down wahever they feed upon.

But.... why should they have a point? Surely the only point to anything is that it has evolved to fill an ecological niche, and will be forced to adapt or die-out as that ecology changes.

(I don't believe any organism has a purpose; they just are).

i think the purpose of ants is to make you feel like they are crawling all over you when you think about them.

We always have problems with ants during hurricane season.  Especially when one is heading our way.  Do they know when the weather is about to change?
