Over Cooking................!!!!
-
I don't like em raw either! LOL
-
Yep.. Me hates em all! I hate asparagus too!
-
well would i say you got them first when they were over cooked incorrectly and or when they were past there best........
to be at there best sprouts need to cooked within 48 hr of picking and then washed and outer leaves removed. cooking is difficult in as far as getting the timing just right. they cook fast and in fact they move from being just connect to being over cooked in less them 1 minuet. the worst think you can do to them is simmer or leave them in hot water. i like them what they are still a little crisp. if you find you have then ready before you are set to serve up strain them and pop them into iced water. than you can pop them back in boiling water for a few 20 or 30 sec before serving. also beware of giving two many 2 to 4 per person is fine. I dont think they are meant to be a main vegetable.
-
Either way.. They taste bad!
-
asparagus is jet another veg that need to be picked fresh and cooked soon after. the also require precise cooking or they are yucky.........

Sir Sean,
Brussel Sprouts, along with other members of the cabbage family, keep scurvy away. Cabbage family products were replaced in the British Navy By the use of Lime Juice. Kegs of it were necessary for any long voyage or the men cold die. Some historians give the Royal Navy Physician James Lind as much credit in creating the British Empire they as the East India Company or All of the Armies. He kept the Royal Navy sailing.
"Untreated scurvy is always fatal. However, since all that is required for a full recovery is the resumption of normal vitamin C intake, death from scurvy is rare in modern times."
EAT YOUR SPROUTS, SPROUT [;D]
I LOVE THEM - IN BUTTER, and I get to release flatus in public after I eat them.
-
LOL.. Not during? [;)]

LOL ME HATES BRUSSEL SPROUTS, I can eat very fresh baby spears of asparagus that is only slightly steamed tender not slime and even then they are not me favorite as a matter of fact I NEVER BUY THEM, Will on occasion eat them if someone else cooks them maybe maybe if I feel like trying them again! LOL

LOL.. I try a creme egg every couple of years to see if I still hate them.. I hate creme eggs!! They make me feel sick!!
-
That is so funny, they make me so sick.. LOL They are sickeningly sweet....Nasty things..LOL
-
I remember hearing that there is a gene that actually effects how bitter people will taste brussel sprouts, and so it is at least partly genetic how much people will like or dislike brussel sprouts.
-
Oh that is interesting.. I did not know your genes could have an effect on your taste buds.. I guess it would be like anything else, I just never thought about that! LOl
-
i like brussel sprouts but not asparagus or creme eggs.
-
LOL... Those creme eggs are nasty I would do the brussel sprout over the creme egg though any day! chew swallow, all the while holding my breath! LOL
