I mean, there white! How cool is that!

They are incredible powerful animals . extremely aggressive and dangerous but fascinating..
-
As Karen mentions, they are dangerous.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polar_bear
The polar bear is the most carnivorous member of the bear family, and the one that is most likely to prey on humans as food.
They also need a very large amount of space to live, and so protecting them requires we set aside very large amounts of land simply for that purpose.
There is also the question as to whether they actually represent a distinct species. As I understand it, they can interbreed with brown bears, and thus are not a totally delineated separate species, being more a separate breed of bear. This alone will present problems with they preservation, as changes in climate will inevitably cause changes in habitat for both brown and polar bears, and maybe causing greater interbreeding.

Save them from what?
-
extinction of course!!!!

Sorry, I thought that was what you meant so I vote yea. [:)]
Beautiful creatures don't you think!
I have read that they may be extinct in 100 years because global warming is causing the ice to melt and the Bears rely on the ice to live and feed.
But a few things puzzle me though.
How can we save them if their habitat is going as we would need to replicate it for them to survive and we cant?
Also, if the ice melts then the sea rise associated and other aspects of global warming will be wreaking havoc across the globe. Its likely in my opinion that we will all be suffering long before the Bears become extinct so will we care then?
The answer is not simple as we would need to completely stop global warming if that is what's causing it to happen and can we?
Edit:
Oh dear, just read that over 700 Polar Bears are killed each year by illegal hunting, [>:(] perhaps we should start there first!

Save polar bears from what.I heard that the number of polar bears whilst decreasing in some regions around Hudson bay ,polar bears are actually increasing in numbers increasing the total number of bears .
They say problem is only the bears in the areas under scrutiny due to the alleged abnormal melting of the ice caps are actively counted.
-
Their are many articles claiming their numbers are increasing all you have to do is a googgle search to find many studies, i put all the hype down to the global warming activists.
