Title: Is there a medication that treats the residual symptoms of the virus?
Post by: nudephil on 19/10/2020 17:16:16
Listener Margaret sent in this question:

I am a 76 year old woman. I could have had COVID-19 in early March, but presented as asymptomatic. My health has gone downhill since then with residual symptoms similar to the virus, such as chronic fatigue, sore joints, mobility problems, excess throat mucus, and nasal congestion. I have gone from being reasonably healthy without taking medication to almost being unable to walk, particularly after sitting down for a period or getting out of bed in the morning. It has been difficult for me to get a blood test where I live to test for the antibodies, but my question is: is there a medication that treats the residual symptoms of the virus?

Also ten weeks ago I was bitten by an unknown spider [but suspect it was a brown recluse], so I might also have spider venom in my joints. Is there a medication for spider venom in the blood?

Can anyone help?

https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/313661#appearance-and-symptoms  lists a whole bunch of late symptoms and complicating comorbidities of brown recluse spider venom. If they are common in your part of the world, it's almost certain that local hospitals will have the wherewithal to diagnose and treat late symptoms - well worth a consultation.

That said, "late COVID" is very common and highly probable.
