Title: How might having autoimmune conditions affect the COVID vaccine?
Post by: EvaH on 17/12/2020 15:39:04
Linda asks:

I have heard experts comment on people with suppressed immune systems in relation to Covid vaccination. I have 3 auto-immune conditions (and am currently unable, and usually reluctant, to take mitigating medication, as most tend to make me ill). My understanding is that autoimmune conditions are associated with an over-active immune system, not suppressed. Can you tell me what effects the vaccine would be likely to have on a person such as myself? For instance, are there likely to be more side effects? Might the immune system over-react? Might the vaccine be less efficacious? I imagine perhaps this might vary with the different types of vaccines and the differing ways they work.

Can you help?

There are apparantly no issues with auto immune disease -
