Having had months to plan how to roll out the vaccine, the UK government hasn't. They seem to be following a the sooner we fall behind the asking rate, the more time we time we have to catch up policy. So the question of what we do after vaccination needs to be raised because the government won't have a plan.
Where might we be? Plcking figures out of the sky:
70% vacinated but not immune, lets say infection from them is reduced by 85%
That adds 10% to the 30% unvaccinated.
Non pharmacuitical interventions dropped... doubles the infection rate - 40% x 2 = 80%
Mutations make the virus 25% more infectious
and we're back where we started - the infection will spread as readily next year as it did this year.
