I don’t have one and I don’t know anyone who does. Now, I know I haven’t been out much recently, lockdown and all, but I’m sure I would have noticed if Boris or the Queen had one, or the postman, etc.

Trousers are functional: they prevent nettle stings and provide somewhere to keep money and a handkerchief. The world will be a better place when women discover pockets.

Yep ! Hinduism.
I did a bit of googling, & that was indeed the first result.
But...it was the Only result that popped up.
I take back the ' Most People ' statement.

But yes, a few folks who aren't Hindus are doing it too.
(I've watched Global International news & have observed black strings on peeps wrists)
A Red String is associated with Kabbalistic tradition.
Seven knots on left wrist.
Sign of spirituality absorption.
Also Red & Yellow ones by different sects of Buddhists.
I even saw a Red one around Madonna's left wrist...donno what that meant thou.
There might be a White one too.

But as i said, Atheists wear it too.
Perhaps it's got something to do with the Younger Generation.
Like perhaps, they use it as a sign to mark themselves.
Like they are Taken or Reserved.
In a Romantic Relationship.
Perhaps then it serves as a marker for Other individuals to Not waste their time & emotions in the wrong way, hoping for something fruitful.
