Eric Clapton refuses to play venues requiring vaccines for concertgoers
British rock icon Eric Clapton has said he will not perform at venues that require concertgoers to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said proof of vaccination must be shown at clubs and venues from September.
Clapton said he will not perform anywhere there is a "discriminated audience present".
His announcement came through the social media accounts of an outspoken anti-vaccine activist.
The guitarist said he felt "honour bound" to make the statement, which was posted on Wednesday to the accounts of Italian architect and film producer Robin Monotti.
In May, Clapton said he had experienced a "severe" reaction to the AstraZeneca vaccine.
This puts Clapton at odds with Springsteen who is requiring people to have gotten the AstraZeneca vaccine to see his show on Broadway (which no one wants to see anyway)
So I applaud Eric Clapton who sees that he made a mistake in getting vaccinated as he could have died.

So I applaud Eric Clapton who sees that he made a mistake in getting vaccinated as he could have died (from the vaccine).
I also applaud Eric Clapton, who saw that he was doing the right thing in getting fully vaccinated as he could have died (from the virus).
- At 76 years old, he is a prime candidate for a COVID coffin
- It's unfortunate that he suffered side-effects after vaccination - but the standard warnings do tell about side effects that can last a few days
- Perhaps his prior medical condition made these side-effects worse? But perhaps these may also have made a COVID infection worse?
Now that Eric has a degree of COVID immunity, perhaps he is ignoring the large number of people in the UK who still have no immunity, and could still overwhelm the health system if many unvaccinated people attend a potential super-spreader event like a packed concert (or a football stadium with lots of shouting..).

Have you compared the probability of dying from COVID versus the probability of dying from vaccine complications?

Is he actually planning to tour any time soon?
Also, please note that he is utterly unqualified to pronounce on medical matters.

Lack of qualification is no impediment to those who have assumed charge of the nation's health. Indeed the ability to lie about anything with a straight face and ignore your own rules seems to be the only criterion of such office.
