I've just thought - whenever I read anyones thread, I do it in my own voice (I'm not saying I read out loud you understand, just in my head, but my screen IS all smeary from my finger) ( [:0]).
As a result, I forget that Karen and Kadie are in the US, and wonder why they've taken on a rather plummy male English accent.
I don't know where this thread is going - it was just a thought I'd like to share.......
-
can't you hear me right now?
it's a high-pitched squeaky bass voice [;)][;D]
-
ok... well i sound like a girl. i speak pretty quietly. i have a "northeast ohio" accent. which is like.. well i don't know i never thought i had one until a few years ago.
-
when actors.. or anyone i guess... are being taught an american accent, they try to teach them to sound like they are from northeast ohio. actually, in terms of accent karen and i should be about the same
-
Well, I am always told I have a quiet voice.. kind of deep , not high pitched at all. am constantly being asked what??? What did you say! LOL Too quiet sometimes especially if I am nervous..LOL Don't get me wrong I can be loud if it calls for it but personally it rarely calls for it. I seldom yell or raise my voice it is pretty rare. The kids at school no the tones change not the volume when I am expressing concern for them or talking with them about a serious matter such as hitting biting kicking spitting at someones face or trying to use the playground as a bathroom... LOL
Anyway pretty deep between tenor and bass, but sing between tenor and soprano! Does that help.. no accent that I am aware of LOL....
-
i don't yell either. actually when i get mad i usually get very quiet for a while and then burst into tears. i wish i could yell. people don't understand that you are mad if you are crying. my voice is kind of high pitched. not annoyingly so... but i sang first soprano... i've been told a lot of things about my voice, but the general consensus is that it's very nice.
-
I have been told I had a deep, throaty, sexy voice LOL I don't think so! LOL LOL..I usually walk away if I am angry go to to my room and get some space.. once in a while I stay and hold my ground as long as I feel I won't say something I regret.. My mum always said "If you can't say nothing nice then don't say nothing at all!" So that is my philosophy mostly anyways. Sometimes that goes out the door as I won't be walked on either.. I speak up! In a louder voice! LOL
-
i used to be a telemarketer-i'm sorry!!!-and right before everyone hung up on me they told me that i had a beautiful voice
-
I have a southern accent - not that thick hillbilly accent like something out of the movie Deliverance - I prefer to think of it as a southern belle accent.
-
i always wanted one of those...
-
I have to admit, I do love being a southern girl.....they call us GRITS here (girls raised in the south). But....I have to endure a lot of good natured teasing about it. In fact a few of you here have teased me about my accent....you know who you are!
-
I have never heard your voice I bet it is beautiful....
-
Refined & sophisticated. Would you expect any different? [:D]
-
Dr Beaver IIRC your entry in the thread about science background includes the word Cantab so rather than "Refined & Sophisticated", I would have expected "Like a Fenland hick".

I sound as if I've been gargling gravel whilst smoking raw tobacco in an exhaust filled room after having shouted the national anthem with the flu. So, a bit like Hugh Grant.....
-
i don't think i've laughed so hard in a very long time... well, not by myself at 3 am anyway...
-
LOL that is pretty good visual description going on there!
-
ok i'll bring this back over here. lol. everyone with an accent sounds cool, but for one reason or another, anyone from england or australia really catches my attention. doesn't matter what dialect or anything. and hugh grant is one of our two current british import actors. lol. and hugh laurie really sounds american on his show... so..
-
hugh grant is one of our two current british import actors. lol
Yes, we've been trying to export him for years!
-
OH you guys are just all so darn sexy that is all there is to it! LOL ...accents,,NO NO NO it's all about those eyes.. the accent is a bonus! LOL
-
Ah, yes - eyes. What are mine like? Remember that dog? Imagine that, but after a REALLY heavy night!
-

Not sleeping too good eh! Let me guess pretty blue eyes...You referring to fugly... He looks blind..I have had nights like that when my eyes felt horrible.. makes you feel possessed.. don't get any sleep and nothing makes sense it is awful and after days of that it gets worse.. I hope you feel better soon..
-
Well, I actually have green eyes, but my wife says that they change colour with my mood - apparently, they become more intense when we're hugging (ahem) and more steely when I'm trying to be efficient. I wonder if this is possible? Does blood-flow in the eye change your eye colour. One new topic, coming up!
-
I don't know that is a good question.. I have met people with rather blue green eyes that look at times more blue grey or even bluer depending on what color they are wearing!
-
Yes, so i think that the actual light going into the eyes has an impact on their colour - we'll see what we get from the topic.....
-
You ever heard the phrase my eyes seen red! I wonder if there is a actual link to your question there!
-
it is hot here still 1:15 am.. over 70 on my porch it feels icky! nice outside if you like all the mosquitos.. LOL
-
"Seeing red", yes, but only in the context of being very angry. What does "my eyes seen red" imply?
-
that you seen something red!
-
70°F here too, but 10:17 am. No mosqui's though..I think we're due some more storms today....
-
that you seen something red!
*smacks forehead*
-

I have always steered clear of being mischievous it always was not worth the pain! I hated the feeling as a kid.. Guilt I guess..

Sometimes I think it might be fun, but then I would never be able to stick with anything for a long period.. I don't like doing things that make me feel terrible.. it's not fun..
-
I mean mischievious as in "jumping out on the boys and scaring the pants off them" kind of thing, or "sneaking up with them onto Mummy". Not naughty, just harmless mischief!
-
Yeah I like that stuff.. more my speed! LOL I actually do that with the kids at school they love it! LOL That is good stuff!
-
my mischevious voices only want to talk when i'm at work with difficult customers...
-
LOL.. I have had some of those visiting also! Annoying little voices for sure..
-
I sound like The Incredible Hulk..........and just as slow [;)]

There is a site where you can upload audio. A few people did it on another forum I look in on. But I can't remember exactly what it was called. I'll have a look for it next week when I can have a proper hunt [:)]

Fun too! I danced all day with tons of people the most fun I had in 25 years of marriage LOL.. Dancing anyways!!!

Attending the world's premier seat of academia does not necessarily imply that one's origins lie thereabouts. [^]

Good point, I don't sound like a local from Oxford.

What has Oxford to do with the world's premier seat of academia? [???]
-
Everything.
(The rest of you can stop bothering to read this now in case it degenerates into a laughable argument about the relative merits of 2 Universities. The joke being that most people would be hard pressed to tell them apart.)
