Title: Fabkin - a newfound human hormone
Post by: kaskas on 14/04/2022 13:36:55
Did you notice that they found a new hormone in humans in 2021? Fabkin also known as FABP4. Article in Nature, December 2021: A hormone complex of FABP4 and nucleoside kinases regulates islet function, Kacey J. Prentice et al (Sorry, I can't post link to it for some reason?)

Quote
FABP4 forms a functional hormone complex with adenosine kinase (ADK) and nucleoside diphosphate kinase (NDPK) to regulate extracellular ATP and ADP levels.

To me fabkin looks like to be a hormone that mobilizes fat-stored energy, into circulation around the body. I am hopeful fabkin will perhaps bring new therapies for diabetes.

Any ideas about fabkins future? Also, have you seen earlier papers that seem to report evidence of fabkin?

(I'm also hopeful this is the correct forum, apologies in advance to mods if they have to move this topic :) )
