chemistry is such a wonderful topic, all the things you can do. one could for instance synthesize diazotetrazole or if your interests lie elsewhere how about 6-methylene 7,8 dihydromorphine via a wittig. the possibilities are endless. so how is he(she) bored? I do admire the curt incisive responses elicited by "bored chemist"

It's a very old name.
I first used it on a different site which was mainly about electronics.
They were arguing about some point of chemistry- I forget what- and I joined the forum just to be " a bored chemist surfing the net who came across this discussion", so I could explain that they were not getting anywhere in their discussion because the chemistry was fundamentally wrong.

very good. thank you.

Because chemistry is just a tiny corner of physics, which itself is a trivial particularisation of mathematics. And nobody finds maths interesting.

Hi.
And nobody finds maths interesting.
There is one. I got 5 different people replying just recently on a thread called "a short puzzle with dogs" which was a mathematical puzzle people could look at for recreation. I only had to pay 4 of those people.
Best Wishes.

I love maths, i'm just not that good at it. it will give you answers that no other discipline can provide. without maths there is no science.

Hi.
Good words @paul cotter but the thread was originally about Bored Chemist so let's see if we can get it back on track.
It's a very old name.
A cryptic reference, BC ?
There are some users on other forums with names similar to this but I'm not going suggest anything here, everyone should be allowed a bit of anonymity.
Best Wishes.
