Title: Is one millimeter of sea really 360 thousand cubic meters of water?
Post by: remotemass on 20/07/2022 17:29:10
Displace one millimeter (lower) of water from the ocean at sea level.
Is that 360 thousand cubic meters?

I was not expecting this number. Can someone please double check it for me please?

Take 75% of the earth's surface area (look it up!) in square meters and divide by 1000.

Look very few...
So i checked.

The surface of sea is around 354 millions of km2, so 354 * 296ba7d1266a91ea6c8dca8791ba101c.gif8215c811412e29425321dc8966f83cfe.gif*8215c811412e29425321dc8966f83cfe.gif   b8c460643608d59ace5819d3971b4261.gif

So just to be clear your number is wrong and the correct answer is about 360 billion cubic meters.
