You will notice I put this in the science section. Is there any evidence for God?
I know there's no proof. And a lot of the claims of religions, like miracles and divine intercession, seem even unlikely. But is there any support for him at all?
Because you know Albert Einstein was pantheist. And some people think Carl Sagan was an agnostic. But no one is sure. And he did say things like "Science is not only compatible with spirituality; it is a profound source of spirituality."
-
There is no evidence that I know of.
-
It depends what you mean by evidence but, if there was valid evidence then scientists- who are good at following evidence- would all be believers.
-
No.
We assume the existence of an entity only if it has consistent defined properties that explain an observed phenomenon and survive critical testing.
-
Answering philisophically, there is lots and lots of evidence of a supernatural being, in all of the supernatural acts such as written in the bible, with God being a supernatural concept that is the sort of evidence you will get. It would be strange not only in a status for this deity to be doing normal things such as coming round in his body (the one yours was modelled after, if you are a man of course) with his lawnmower and doing your lawn, but also in a religious sense, who is going to worship their gardener for mowing a lawn? That being said, the parable of the lawnmower, (genesis 4;13)............
So in short, you need to believe in supernatural acts.

@Jim
You hardly ever seem to be Interested in a discussion or conversation.
Anyways, You say...
" for Him at all " .
That specifies a Certain section of Religions, not all.
We do not know what view Sagan or Einstein held at their last breath.
It's like lookin thru a glass of Presentism towards the Unknown.
Lastly, No Evidence.
But the sheer Faiths & Beliefs of a many few...make it an Inescapable reality for All of Us!
ps - TC.

So... you think Gandalf is real?

That is evidence for religion, not evidence for God.

Also I was going ask, what about philosophical terms like ultimate reality, transcendental absolute and unmoved mover? Are they still used in modern philosophy? How are they defined? I think unmoved mover is just a very old term from Aristotle.

Not strange at all:
Genesis 1:27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. both? unlikely.
John 1:14
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
but obviously bollocks, nevertheless.

Philosophical terms are never defined - that would lead to public ridicule and unemployment of philosophers.

So... you think Gandalf is real?
Of course he is - I've seen the film! Also God (or was that Charlton Heston?)

No no, gods nose for sniffing his food with, to tell whether it is fit so stuff his gobhole with or not, obviously.

Noooooooo, you need to BELIEVE origin, if you believe, it's real. Point being supernatural deities provide super natural proof.

If it were not fit to eat, God would not have created it. Or maybe he's not on our side, in which case why give us a nose at all? Or is he just taking the piss?
-
Yep, I have seen loads of pictures of god, he has white hair and a big bushy white beard. Been known for a long time, I believe Michaelangelo painted his image years ago. On a serious note, spirituality is concerned with beliefs and science with evidence, two completely different fields of human thought.

Two priests came upon a fallen angel, with a broken wing. They patched him up and shipped hm to a hospital where he regained consciousness and asked what he could to to thank them.
"Just tell us something about the Face of God" they said.
"Well, she's black, and....."

Do you think that everything written in the bible is true?
How do you come to that conclusion?
What makes it different from scriptures of other religions?
-
Assertion is not evidence.
-
Some of the bible is factual, especially where we have reports from Josephus as correlation. The old testament is loosely based on Sumerian and then Babylonian fables handed down from generation to generation, principally by the spoken word.
-
A good deal of what is said in Parliament, or written in novels, is true, but only a fool would allow his life to be ruled by the rest of it.
-
We can also find some facts in North Korean state media, as well as from Talibans.
-
I think we can take it as fairly true that Kim Jong Un is president of North Korea, and the Taliban are sexual perverts, but I wouldn't trust anything that they actually publish as official documents.
