Title: Would you fart in an elevator?
Post by: Pseudoscience-is-malarkey on 29/11/2023 16:25:01
The old belief that holding farts for too long can wreck internal organs has been thoroughly debunked. No need to worry about that. But, if you're in an elevator and have gas creeping in on you ready to be liberated- and have a minute or more to reach your destination-  would you, as a courtesy to fellow travelers, hold it in no matter how much it hurts?

Farting in the lift is wrong on many levels.

It is recommended in a cockpit, and the rest of the crew just have to accept it as part of your safety drill. Flying unpressurised, retained gas can become  painful and debilitating, so the rule is to belch or fart as the mood takes you when climbing. Also yawn or sing when descending, to maintain aural sensitivity - Stuka crews sounded like a very merrry  bunch.
