SOS
If you're like me, you don't always glance at the home page or podcasts of the Naked Scientists.
There's a big problem. Read this page: https://www.thenakedscientists.com/sos-cambridge-university-killing-dr-chris
or listen to the audio podcast on the homepage.
You must make the time to read or listen to that, it is urgent.

Has there been any updates on this? I have not seen any further news in any of the forums nor on the web site.

Hi,
Basically no, I've not heard anything more.
1. There's another forum thread covering similar stuff here:
https://www.thenakedscientists.com/forum/index.php?topic=87314.0
- but that doesn't have any significant new information either, sorry.
2. All we can do is look at how the information has changed and try to read between the lines.
(i) The information at this URL has changed: https://www.thenakedscientists.com/sos-cambridge-university-killing-dr-chris
In particular, it is no longer listing all the email addresses of people involved with making the decision and asking you to write directly to them. Instead you are advised only to send the email to Chris, who may then pass it on.
Why would that have changed? My best guess is that there were complaints from all the people who became swamped with emails. The next item also provides some evidence for this...
(ii) The information at this URL has also changed: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1yVKobXJ3b5uu3bVKeNcx97xEIGqZyb9mgYZbv7oeM4s/edit?pli=1&tab=t.0
That is a copy of some of the emails that Chris has received. It is now a 674 page long document and I doubt that ALL of the emails have been added to that document anyway. I haven't counted how many emails this actually is but typically one email takes less than 2 pages, so there's been hundreds.
(iii) The Naked Scientists forum still works and new podcasts are still being made available at the moment. At the time of writing, the latest podcast was titled "Is leukaemia genetic?" and was released today ( 4 July 2025).
We have to assume the decision to make Chris redundant hasn't been made yet.
Best Wishes.
