How can someone hold their breath for so long i can manage a minute but 15 is like forever. Its tollaly amazing what the human body can achieve.
-
How the heck can that be real.. What about oxygen deprivation and 4 minute rule as you said Michael.. at what point will an oxygen starved body suffocate and collapse.. and once one looses consciousness won't one just automatically breath like a child who holds their breath until they pass out?

ITS TRUE IT WAS ON THE bbc NEWS LAST NIGHT
Chris you need to research how this is possible for your show.
How can the human body survive without breathing for 15 minutes

WOW!!! HOLY COW!!!

I'm sure the 20 minutes of inhaling pure oxygen immediately before the stunt helped.
In other words he cheated (in a sense) as this cant be compared to a normal person doing the same.
I wonder how long he would last under normal conditions.

His world record for holding his breath without inhaling pure oxygen first is just over 9 minutes , that is still amazing

I still wanna know why his brain isnt starved of oxygen. I thought if your brain dosent receive a fresh supply every 4 minutes you got brain damage.

Some people are able to slow down their body rhythms, heart beat etc by meditating.
Doing that would allow the oxygen to last longer. A few minutes of deep breathing beforehand would also increase the available oxygen in the blood. Too much too quick and you could get oxygen narcosis which can be painful. [;)]
