Title: Any advice on how to format a new theory?
Post by: TyroJack on 27/05/2019 18:27:21
I have a new theory of time worked out. But I would like to format it, to make it easy for others to follow...

Step 1.
Make sure it is actually a theory.

If it isn't, don't bother to call it one.

As @Bored chemist says it probably isnít a scientific theory at this stage - worth looking up the term on the net.
To make your idea easier to understand you could format it in a simple way eg:
Introduction - a paragraph which summarises what your idea covers and what it proposes.
The idea - a brief explanation of the key idea(s) and what effect they have.  Show predictions - which can be tested - that your idea makes about outcomes, ideally include the maths for these predictions.
Evidence - results of experiments, tests etc that support the idea
Alternatives - other possible explanations and why you reject them - again you need evidence.
Summary/conclusions

Overall, keep the wording short and to the point.

Good luck

OK, maybe this is no more than a hypothesis but the need still exists to be clear and precise about what I am claiming and how it fits with what we know.

Upon reflection I think it worthwhile for me to raise a couple of points in the science section to check my understanding of certain facts...
