Researching into  what? Client booking, book keeping, or lab records?

Equipment bookings.. we have quite a bit and some people just hog some pieces like the flow cytometer and then others can't access them. Just looking for software or any other suggestions to help run things smoothly. So far we used google calendar but it was a bit too time-consuming

There are several "shared asset booking " systems available for download. I just looked at one from "PHPJabbers" that looks fairly easy to use, and cheap enough to scrap if you're not happy! Or talk to your local aero club - they mostly use high quality SABs that are very robust. But it looks as though you have more of a personnel problem if people  are hanging on to kit unnecessarily, or maybe insufficient capital kit to meet customer demand.
