« on: 21/10/2008 20:37:06 »
When some frogs hibernate/ oestivate (the jury's still out on this one) they secrete a thin slimey bag around the body, which they eat on waking- grotesque to watch but fascinating! Apparently it provides essential nutrients to the waking frog. I prefer cornflakes myself.

« on: 01/08/2008 18:29:06 »
On second thoughts it does look  more like a caterpillar than a beetle larva, and it seems to have a spike on its rear like your pic of the hawkmoth caterpillar. It could be an elephant hawkmoth caterpillar.......?

« on: 01/08/2008 14:49:31 »

« on: 01/08/2008 14:42:20 »
My Auntie had the same reaction to thunder as some of your dogs.....she would dive under the nearest table and refuse to come out until the storm had passed. Trouble was she was a midwife.......
