sorry Bogie,

I must for once disagree.

there comes a time to lay down the sword (or your principles), when you come to the conclusion you are dealing with either those unworthy of combat, or those unable to reasonably dispute your values.

"And the annual dues are reasonable, too! In fact, you aren’t allowed to leave the ISU, let alone get rejected. "

kind of like Scientology.

Just Chat! / Re: Why can't we have protests like the French ?
« on: 13/12/2018 17:37:25 »
I protest against any protests, protesting anything the French do, manufacture, elect through their political system, or wars they engage in (or attempt to engage in).

the French provide the fodder for global humor.

(sorry to my Froggy friends...the devil made me do it)

Just Chat! / Why doesn't the USA elect a woman leader?
« on: 12/12/2018 19:30:26 »
Countries about the world have elected women to the highest political positions of governance.

Lady Thatcher, Theresa May, Indira Gandhi, Golda Meir, and others less well known.

the best potential candidates currently in the US political arena are Hillary Clinton, Maxine Waters, Elizabeth "Pocahantas" Warren and Nancy Pelosi.

despite the freedom to vote by American women, men are always elected.

altho the USA has a large number of women supporting womens rights; no woman has come forth with the credentials necessary to win in a republic that has voted by constitutional amendment to allow women the right to vote.

ATMD,

in support of your observation, the code of the Enigma Machine was broken with the assistance of a team of women, selected for their intuitive instincts.

« on: 29/11/2018 23:25:29 »
ATMD,
if i am not the first, may i welcome you to the chaos known as something i think of as "The Scientist with no clothes".

but getting to your point...i have come to the belief that intuition is primarily a defense that women use as an excape from their inability to utilize logic. altho men may have the intuitive ability, men prefer to use logic to solve problems.

this is a weakness that unfortunately women are unable to overcome, since it serves their interest well; given the desire of men to supress women's unhidden abilities of logical reasoning.

this just my opinion...others might disagree.

Question of the Week / Re: QotW - 18.10.28 - When did we become modern day humans?o
« on: 12/11/2018 18:24:34 »
obviously, we are not there yet.

since modern humans have a smaller brain size than Neanderthals (and larger brain size was once considered an advancement in intelligence); modern humans have compensated for lack of brain size by advancing technology...which is a recent development.

since a smaller brain size has resulted in "modern humans"; consider the brain size of modern women to modern men.

women have smaller brains, yet have convinced men to support them; in exchange for sexual favors (that they actually require in order to reproduce)...and so receive "two bangs for the buck".

therefor, I submit that given the smaller brains that women possess, and the obvious gains the smaller brain has given them: that when the human brain has shrunk an additional 50 pct or so; modern humans will have reached it's full potential: brilliant women controlling male drones for women's final and total achievement.

Just Chat! / Children's view of the Ocean
« on: 28/10/2018 22:31:07 »
Children writing about the ocean.
The next time you take an oceanography course, you will be totally prepared!
1) An octopus has eight testicles. (Kelly, age 6)
2) Oysters' balls are called pearls. (Jerry, age 6)
3) If you are surrounded by the ocean, you are an island. If you don't have an ocean all round you, you are incontinent. (Mike, age 7)
4) Sharks are ugly and mean, and have big teeth, just like Emily Richardson. She's not my friend any more. (Kylie, age 6)
5) A dolphin breaths through an asshole on the top of its head. (Billy, age 8)
6) My uncle goes out in his boat with 2 other men and a  woman and comes back with crabs. (Millie, age 6)
7) When ships had sails, they used to use the trade winds to cross the ocean. Sometimes when the wind didn't blow the sailors would whistle to make the wind come. My brother said they would have been better off eating beans. (William, age 7)
8) Mermaids live in the ocean. I like mermaids. They are beautiful and I like their shiny tails, but how on earth do mermaids get pregnant? Like, really?  (Helen, age 6)
9) I'm not going to write about the ocean. My baby brother is always crying,  my Dad keeps yelling at my Mom, and my big sister has just got pregnant,  so I can't think what to write. (Amy, age 6)
10) Some fish are dangerous. Jellyfish can sting. Electric eels can give you a shock. They live in caves under the sea where they plug themselves in to chargers. (Christopher, age 7)
11) When you go swimming in the ocean, it is very cold, and it makes my willy small. (Kevin, age 6)
12) Divers have to be safe when they go under the water. Divers can't go down alone, so they have to go down on each other. (Becky, age 8)
13) On vacation my Mom went water skiing. She fell off when she was going very fast. She says she won't do it again because water fired right up her big fat ass. (Julie, age 7)
14) The ocean is made up of water and fish. Why the fish don't drown I don't know. (Bobby, age 6)
15) My dad was a sailor on the ocean. He knows all about the ocean. What he doesn't know is why he quit being a sailor and married my mom. (James, age 7)

Physics, Astronomy & Cosmology / Re: Why do we have two high tides a day?
« on: 26/10/2018 17:07:13 »
I was interested in this topic, as an old sailor; altho I have little knowledge in the science as discussed.
i would like to thank all those who participated in a robust discussion, in which i learned very much (altho the depth of the science remains over my head.

i was impressed by the vigor of the discussion, without anyone coming to blows :)...and the tolerance of the moderator for not arbitrarily deleting comments or in any way moving them. (i have been in other forums in which the moderators enjoyed displaying their power)

i look forward to following other topics with as much to offer.
