Just Chat! / Is the forum's optics monkey soon to be published in a refereed journal?
« on: 26/03/2009 14:03:34 »
yes, yes he is - in between writing reports, battling a hell of a nasty bacterial infection and fighting off the hoards of fan-zombies....

stay tuned.

Just Chat! / One Night in Bangkok
« on: 24/03/2009 04:39:37 »
Another 80's flashback - music video here.

I have been to 9 countries, and quite literally I did spend one night in Bangkok, on new years 2006-2007... the same evening that terrorists bombed the city (one of those 'I was there moments').  It turned many a hard man humble. (beyond this, I can't really talk about it).

Have you ever had a song match a personal experience of yours?

NSM - all you have are your own paranoid-delusionally biased ASSumptions - you are so far from the truth with regards to me.

You accused me of contributing to the death of my uncle - something that, to be blunt and honest, has me despising you as a person.

But, as your name says, you are a nobody, just some whack-job troll name on the screen.  You'll twit this around to fit your own delusion, but who cares?

You have no influence nor authority in my life whatsoever.

No one here takes you seriously, no one at all and you did that to yourself.  You are so brainwashed by the woo-woo factions that you can't see that you are a poster boy for what you, yet again, accuse me of.

So, go back to woo-woo land with your tin hat, nobody.

NSM - you can not dictate to people what they think.

Not everyone think in the same way as you, you have to accept that not everyone believes the same things that you, nor do people 'fit' a cast from your mindset.

Further, if people disagree with you, it does not mean at all that they are the 'enemy'.

I am sorry to say, your paranoid delusional rambling has resulted in you have absolutely no credibility with anyone here - this is not because of brainwashing, this is entirely due to your offensive and delusional ramblings.

To be honest, you come across as an online troll, deliberately and immaturely provoking responses to fulfill your addiction for attention and martyrism when you perceive that people are part of 'them'.   (yes, I realise the irony of posting that statement).

I do not know nor care as to what caused you to be so distrusting - I would have cared if you were polite and demonstrated any sensibility.

I thought the Moon was made of cheese, it's not a green apple.

Now you are contradicting another well known fact.

LOL

A Davis, prove to us that Mercury or the Moon has no spin.  Remember, as you are the one who presented the theory, it is on you to prove it.

Geology, Palaeontology & Archaeology / What caused the earthquake in Melbourne, Australia?
« on: 07/03/2009 23:50:18 »
yes, that makes sense.

Gippsland (to the east of Melbourne) usually gets small tremors, looking at the map you posted earlier I think I can see why.

It is all starting to come back to me now, thank you JimBob!

Just Chat! / Which company(s) are you impressed with?
« on: 07/03/2009 16:52:02 »
For me, it is Amazon, I get my books delivered very timely and one time when an error was made, thy were very courteous and gave me a full refund (even though I was not asking nor expecting one) wih my books.

Just Chat! / Has anyone seen the American television show "Eureka"?

I do know something of Quantum Physics, and can say with absolute certain: 'What the green apples is this rubbish?'

Not enough proof to assert this theory

I am a Catholic and Buddhist, as well as being a Scientist... I am not oing to discuss the reasons, intricasies etc of this.

However, one thing I am certain of and it was mentioned very early in this thread - no one is going to be converted toanyone else's line f thinking on the internet.

For example, there is *no way* that I will be convinced by any words to alter mybeliefs in any way whatsoever and there will be no way that I could try and change anyone here (whichI have no interest in doing anyway).

People are simply going to have to accept that people believe differently to they do, no matter how strongly they hold their beliefs.

shearing seems to be having an effect.

I wonder if the non-active hotspot south of the west Victoria volcanics has anything to do with this.

I studied all this, but I am very rusty

postscript: I know that this earthquake is intraplate (not from plate boundaries) -  I have been interested in the dynamics of intraplate earthquakes.

« on: 06/03/2009 11:24:58 »
Apparantly it was felt over a large area.  Here is a USGS report. The epicentre was about 110km South east of Melbourne.

It was a 4.7, which is a lare quke for Australia - there is some minor damage in the city and the power is out over parts of the city.  My parents live near the epicenter and felt it.

Fires, doughts, windstorms, now quakes for my home state of Victoria (of which Melbourne is the capital)
