Maybe POIS isn't that rare and maybe it's caused/strengthened by when we started watching high speed porn. The younger we started the more our brain developed stronger connections associated with porn addiction.

I take a very large dosage of niacin the morning after O'ing (3080 percent of your daily value) and i feel fantastic. Dont forget i gave the name POIS to my doctor and basically summarized our problems and told her about all of us on the forum and stuff like that. She understands it most likely is not a mental thing. And also i take flush free niacin , but i get flush like symptoms immediatley after O'ing without taking Niacin, Some weird stuff my body does.Hi Itsthatskater,
Do you take Niacin only after O or do you take regular doses (eg. daily) anyway? You are the first person I remember reading about for whom Niacin taken AFTER O has really helped (everyone else seems to have found they only get beneficial effects if taken BEFORE O, although some find if they've taken some before then doses in the days after can help a bit if they still have symptoms..). I assume if you are taking such high doses and it is a non-flushing Niacin that it is Nicotinamide/Niacinamide that you have. Could you tell us more about your Niacin routine and what type of tablets (look on the ingredients) you have. Thanks.
And well done for talking to your doctor. Its great that she accepts the reality of the condition.
The welcome message contains important information that might be seen for the very first time, and may result in something great!
IMHO, there's no reason to shorten the welcome message.
I suppose I now agree with Demo for the reason that members familiar with the welcome message can simply scroll past it when they see it. It doesn't waste any time since it's not like you have to read the entire message each time you see it. Just takes maybe a second to scroll past it. But more importantly it provides new visitors all the info they need to know about the forum at a glance.
The welcome message is an absolutely fantastic part of the community that has built up here. I speak as someone who spends most of my life in a mental fog in which I find navigating this thread completely overwhelming. The welcome post is a great summary and place to start for people who are like me -- and it should stay that way.
On the other hand, it would be better if it were shorter, for the mere reason that it's pretty overwhelming as it is! Fewer links, for example to the Pyropeach PDF would make it easier to comprehend immediately (the PDF already has loads of other links and info). Try reading it from the perspective of someone who loses track of long sentences, paragraphs beyond 3 lines and skips beyond the post if he gets frustrated (it took me years to realise that this was happening to me)
With regard to the debate over the length of the welcome post, it's probably important to remember that even if the welcome post were shorter, the Naked Scientist thread would still feel pretty 'cluttered' and hard to follow -- simply because it is just one single thread, and lots of different topics get thrown around. No matter what the welcome message looks like (and we all might have different opinions about how it should look), this will still basically be the case.
So, in terms of the specific issue of things being easier to follow, perhaps the focus should be on the nice, new, organized POIS Forum with lots of lovely divisions between different topics!
And where is that nice, new, organized forum? Oh yes, right here: http://www.poiscenter.com/forums/index.php
I also get very sensitive to light and sound while in pois in addition to being more vain and concerned about my physical appearance. Recently I've begun to think that the physical symptoms of pois might be related to how the penis becomes hypersensitive to touch immediately after ejaculation except with pois all the body's senses become elevated.
That's how my POIS comes about. It's delayed by a day or two. Mostly anyways, one time I started shivering and had the flu at the exact moment I had the O.
I've not had fever in POIS for quite a while, but runny nose and weak vision always occurs, I also get speech issues such as stuttering and stammering whilst in POIS and my normally deep voice becomes that of a prepubescent teen lol. POIS is very strange like the gentleman in the latest POIS paper by Dr. Waldinger, I too have a photo phobia I get very depressed and my throat tightens up upon someone taking a photo of me, and it becomes difficult to breathe, must be psychosomatic, it's pretty extreme. Apart from hiding under pseudonyms and avatars, I personally, genuinely don't have any photo's of myself anywhere, I burnt all of them some time ago, I never had this problem when I was younger and before POIS.
I had a very strange bout of POIS this week, after O there was no brainfog or fatigue, some degredation of cognitive functions but very little POIS initially, but then after two days I started having extreme joint pains and headaches and then the brain fog and slight fatigue came on. I recently started messing around with the dosages of my HRT meds, on the whole it appears that tweaking hormones, atleast getting the testosterone levels in the upper range (most of my other hormones are pretty good) goes a long way with helping POIS.
Testosterone also stimulates the growth of RBC's my recent blood test shows I have high normal RBC and the ratio of RBC to WBC has increased since taking test, so maybe there are less WBC/antibodies attacking when I have POIS?
I have mercury fillings. And POIS symptoms/headache usually includes teeth ache.
Are your symptoms more mental(cognitive) or physical, or both?
I was thinking back to when I got POIS.... It was just after I turned 14. Before that I do not remember problems with orgasm. (I could achieve orgasm at about 13).
I fainted in an airport and hit my head really hard on the floor.... and was unconscious for about 5 minutes. This happened only weeks before I noticed POIS symptoms.
I really hope this did not trigger it. Has anyone else had similar accidents shortly before their POIS started?
