Plant Sciences, Zoology & Evolution / Re: Do dogs use tools?

I don't think they use tools the way we humans do.

Plant Sciences, Zoology & Evolution / Re: How do you get rid of spiders?
« on: 23/10/2017 14:54:22 »
It depends on the spider. I don't mind the small ones but the big ones, thin or thick, are really bothering me. When I see a small one I try to let it out. The big ones I spray with bug spray. Too scary!

Physiology & Medicine / Re: What is the brain's reaction to things associated with brains?
« on: 23/10/2017 14:52:00 »
That's such a weird question haha but the things MY brain associates with other brains are not good because the first thing that pops into my mind when thinking of brains is the image of brains and as we all know, it's not a pretty sight!

Geek Speak / Re: Can cooling computer DRAM preserve the content and constitute a security risk?

I've never really thought about that. I have always assumed no though...

Ah thanks for the answers!! I just assumed there must be some special advantages...

I can't say I've completely understood ^^' But you're sure it has something to do with electrons?

Martensite Steel? What about ferritic martensitic steels then?

Question of the Week / Re: QotW - 17.10.08 - Is it safe to live near a cell phone tower?
« on: 16/10/2017 10:09:35 »
I don't think that health risks have been proven. In some countries, it is forbidden/disencouraged because of precaution only. It's like the schroedinger's cat...

Chemistry / Does austenitic steel have few magnetic properties?
« on: 16/10/2017 10:03:37 »
I was wondering what the difference between austenitic steel and ferritic steel is and apparently their main difference is their cubic crytsal structure. Austenitic steel has a face-centered structure (SRC: https://bortec.de/en/blog/2017/08/08/austenitic-steel/) whereas ferritic steel is said to have a body-centered crystal structure. Now, I understand how these look but what I do not understand is how they behave differently and why. Why is it that austenitic steel has little to no magnetic properties due to its elemental structure for example??

Chemistry / Re: What is a mineral?

AFAIK minerals refer to natural occuring compounds of misc elements. Not sure what the difference to rocks is though

Why are these two elements alloyed though? Are there any advantages?
