my congratulations on the successful result of your experiment.

similar experiments I have made, and tested upon my person have not been so successful; however after a hospital visit with stomach pumping, I in fact survived (proof of which I submit by my current post).

may I inquire as to the alcohol content of your elixir; and should it be > 50%; would you be interested in establishing a distribution partner?

are you interested in providing a quantity of your elixir to a volunteer? (and if proven to be a non fatal; or at least not leading to blindness) how much per gallon would you be considering?

I agree.

can you set up a phony account, and reply to them?

keep us informed, and perhaps we can all contribute enough to keep them busy?

maybe set up a bogus bank account with a few bucks they can attempt to access; and perhaps track their access attempts?

Chris,

I receive at least one phony email scam a day, in addition to at least one or more phone calls.

what the hell kind of a life are you living anyway...(I thought I lived on the edge! ) :)

(JUST A JOKE...JUST A JOKE) :) :)

"?hese?days?when?computers?ten?a?penny?using?morse?is?more?simple"

sure, but try to find a computer that works when the internet collapses, or you find yourself in jail :)

"archaic Morse code was a requirement to transmit."

altho I am rusty in Morse code, I think this "archaic" form of communication might at some time save your life.

if you can reach any type of airborne signal, by interrupting it with a series of dots and dashes will enable you to communicate with anyone able to read you. (even a prison mate reading your message via airborne vibrations over walls and bars).

Just Chat! / Re: Has any of you owned a bitcoin?
« on: 26/12/2018 19:25:32 »
kind of a damned if you do, damned if you don't.

the US went off the gold standard in order to print money to ease the problems of the Great Depression.

having discovered the joys in the ability to print money unfettered by a solid gold backing, we are now trillions in debt; which can only be paid by printing more funny money, and inflating our way out of debt.

PC,
not sure if you understood my comment as i intended.

i am a "gold bug" (for even more reasons than you pointed out)...i view crypto currencies as nothing more than a fad.

" Im not saying that this sort of cryptography is unworkable for money serial numbers, but finite supplies limit it finitley."
PC,

you can say the same of gold, which has remained a value of wealth for thousands of years...
this is not to say I am a supporter of crypto currencies...which I consider to be along the lines of tulip bulbs.

Bill,
I believe a clever coder could write a sub routine to click at the appropriate line.
of course, this might tend to lock up ones computer, so in the event one of our resident genius's posts this solution; user beware!

Karen,
please don't let it bother you.

well meaning people are deceived and taken advantage of all the time.

don't let the many bastards take away your good intentions...and best wishes, especially during this holiday season.

« on: 21/12/2018 20:47:21 »
I have never looked at the "thanks" responses...since I neither seek approval nor even care a whit about what anyone thinks of me or anything I say.

all you need care about is how you perceive yourself.

« on: 21/12/2018 18:38:12 »
Peter,

I read your introductory OP, and you certainly appear to have gotten the Queen's panties in a bunch.

I can sympathize, having on a number of occasions ruffled the feathers of the US courts.

as a descendent of Scots going back to the first millennium, altho I have no current dog in the hunt, I believe that Scotland should be a separate and free nation; and be permitted to screw itself up as it wishes (much as we do here in the US)

If I remember correctly the proper answer is Q5 R9 you were supposed to report reception on a scale of 1-5 but people got upset if you reported less than 5.

syhprum,

you must certainly be trained in communications; I have never encountered this protocol before.

my only experience in radio contact was in the Coast Guard, and working on boats in the sport fishing industry; when "loud and clear" was the response to a caller requesting a radio check, and the reception was received with high volume and little garble.

great topic...sure to have many responses...(wish I had thought of it ) :)

let me kick off by suggesting that "nice" guys finish last.

I vote for effective...the only way to win.
