nathan - did you use seed or leaf neem?

I used Neam leaf powder.  I bought this powder from the herbal shop and I fill this into empty capsules.  I eat this daily one (after wakeup, before eating / drinking) from the past two and two half months.  I got the result within 20 days after this usage.  As posted in my previous mail, my doctor suspected muscle weakness.  Over a period of time, my doctor and I both concluded that it is not due to muscle weakness for the following reasons.

a) Some times I experienced POIS symptoms starting after 15 to 20 hours after orgasm.
b) Some times without having orgasm,  I got POIS symptoms by watching sexual scenes and movies.
c) further doctor told if it is a mucle weakness then there will be a heavy physical strain.  But in POIS period, physically I am very strong.  I can hit even 10 people if required, but my mental status was worst.
d) Further, on my face, I had white patches like pimple which is filled up with white liquid.  skin specialist tested this and he concluded that this is not a pimples, rather a patches because of allergy in the body.

So, I started searching for cure for allergy.  In one of the website  I found a post by one person who was suffering from depression, headche, mental stress, reddish eyes, brain fog (same as POIS symtoms) after eating sea foods and this will gradually cured in 3 days.    He took neem capsule for 4 months.  Afterwords his problem was completely cured.  Based on this, I asked my friend who is a herbal products dealer.  He suggested me to try this.  Because of this I tried this product and it has worked for me.

Further, Yesterday I tested my sperm levels, as in some website it says Neem will decrease the sperm counts which is reversible nature.  But for me there was no decrease and all levels are normal in semen.  So, I thought I may be cured (not fully say 90%) because of following benefits of neem
1) It increases immune system capability.
2) Decreases auto immune diseases.
3) Decreases allergy
4) one of the good anit-oxidant
5) Fight against virus, bacteria if it is there in body.

For those of you who are interested in trying neem leaf.  What has apperently been safe for use over thousands of years is dried or fresh neem leaves, this equates to "neem leaf powder", which is just ground up neem leaves.  I have read both neem leaf extracts and oils may be toxic, especially if used over long periods of time.  These are much more potent than what was traditionally used in ancient and alternative medicine.  Although, neem leaf oil is considered GRAS (generally recognized as safe) by the FDA for the use as a pesticide on agricultural products, the use of neem oil products sold for humans is for topical use on skin.

I think this looks like a good experiment to try neem leaf poweder, but i would be carefull of using neem oil or extract for an extended period of time.

also on another note, I read that the male contraceptive experiment was misrepresented and that most likely it was the women that also used neem oil intravaginally before sex, which provides spermicidal properties for up to five hours after insertion.

Kurtosis, have you had any side effects from taking Huperzine A.  I have tried other nootropics like Vinpocetine and others, but only ever ate one pill out of the bottle because of side effects.

Hi guys, I have been suffering from the symptoms of POIS for my entire adult life (roughly 11 years).  Symptoms include brain fog, difficulty maintaining erections, depression, fatigue, anxiety, swelling of eyes, paleness, premature ejaculation, lack of motivation...the list goes on.

I seem to get POIS when I get aroused...the symptoms are significantly worse after ejaculation than before, but if I masturbate or have sex without ejaculation or orgasm I still have the symptoms to a lesser degree.

I have a few questions for you guys...I am going to see my allergist this upcoming Friday and I am supposed to provide a "specimen" sample of my semen for skin ***** testing. So here are my questions:

1). How long before the skin ***** testing should I wait to provide the sample? The doctor said the morning of the appointment is fine (appt is at 10:00 a.m.). I know that sperm dies rather quickly after leaving the male body...will this affect the results of the test if I wait several hours?

2). If I do have a reaction to my own semen, will I have to provide a sample every time before I am giving the hyposensitization therapy? Or will they freeze the specimen and use it until they run out?

3). It seems like talk about treatment with autlogous semen has died down recently, is it still a viable treatment procedure?

4). What is the Kurtosis protocol I keep hearing about? I can't find any exact listing of what it entails as far as vitamins and procedure.

5). Are there any new procedures that have had success?

I feel like the issue is definitely based in the hypothalamus/pituitary. My theory is that I become aroused and my pre-ejaculate flows through my seminal "plumbing" and interacts with T-lymphocytes in any small gaps in the plumbing. If I ejaculate the amount of fluid interacting with the lymphocytes is increased causing a more severe reaction. The T-lymphocytes reaction then triggers the release of histamine. The histamine causes cortisol to be released to suppress it. A prolonged allergic reaction will create a prolonged cortisol release, interfering with hormones and the pituitary. Also, elevated levels of histamine will interact with the hypothalamus in a negative way, causing neurotransmitters and their release to become imbalanced and possibly even decreasing them.

My symptoms are very similar to dopamine deficiency, which I think might play a key role in POIS.

Anyways, I would appreciate any feedback and I hope you guys are doing well.

Thanks,

Chris
In response to question number 2. I believe Dr. Waldinger uses fresh semen.  I have wanted to say somthing for a while after hearing about others injected with fresh semen.  In my professional medical opinion this would defeat the entire purpose of the highly diluted semen being injected for hyposensitization.  If you are injected with a 1/100,000 dilution after just having an ejaculation and being exposed to a full dose, there is no point.  This is equivalent to doing a hyposensitization on a person with a peanut allergy by first giving them an entire peanut and then injecting them with a 1/100,000 peanut dilution.

Good post Tony! I have been suspecting Lyme for a long time which includes a severe deficiency of B12.
You give hope.
I was tested for Lyme and it was negative.  However, some tests are not accurate due to the evolution of lyme disease.  My physician went over the lab results with me and we both determined that Lyme disease was not a factor in my case and the very expensive, accurate lab was not ordered.  If you believe Lyme may be responsible for some of your symptoms you can easily get a Lyme test.

"We are told by manufacturers, health departments and clinics that the Lyme ELISA tests are good, useful tests, but in two blinded studies that tested laboratories for accuracy, they failed miserably. Lorie Bakken, MS/MPH, showed in her studies that there was not only inaccuracy and inconsistency between competing laboratories, but also between identical triple samples sent to the same lab. In other words, identical samples often resulted in different results! In the first study, forty-five labs correctly identified the samples only 55% of the time.

In the latest study by the College of American Pathologists, 516 labs were tested. The overall result was terrible! There were almost equal numbers of false positives as false negatives. Overall, the labs were 55% inaccurate. The labs could only give a correct result 45% of the time. You are actually better off to flip a coin!"

I have been bit by those **ckers more than 4 times in my life.I have nearly all the symptoms. Many CFS sufferers have Lyme but have not been diagnosed yet.The last time I went cycling with a friend and got bit by a tic.I asked my friend and he has never had any tic bites while those little bastards find me everytime I go near a forrest.Somehow I attract them but why? Body odour?
I believe there is a lab in California that does a very accurate Lyme test, however, it is very expensive.  The ELISA checks for antibodies on a lab clone of the borreliosis bacteria.  The problem is that the wild species of borreliosis have quickly evolved making many of the antigens on the lab strain irrelevant to the actual antigens on the wild strains.

Looks promising. I'm not sure I'd have any success in getting prescribed Cabergoline but if you can find a doctor who'll prescribe it then let us know how you get on.

I've been seeing an open-minded endocrinologist for metabolic syndrome that I developed while taking antipsychotics, he has prescribed me testosterone gel before on speculation it might help my PIOS.  He's one of the few docs who has given me the benefit of the doubt.  I have a well documented medical history, and it might make him feel secure enough to go with the cabergoline.  I will get an appointment soon!
cabergoline has the exact opposite effect as antipsychotics.  Antipsychotics block dopamine receptors in the brain.  IF you gave cabergoline to a bipolar patient, it would cause them to go in the wildest manic phase imaginable.  on rare occasions dopamine agonists like cabergoline can cause sex and gambling addictions in otherwise normal and reserved people.

Hi everyone!!

I read some days ago a very sad story about an old woman - bus monitor - who was bullied by some "stupid"(i am restraining myself) kids on the bus in New York. They made the woman cry, and the despicable event was recorded. The event went viral and the media is airing this episode all over the world: http://edition.cnn.com/2012/06/21/us/new-york-bullied-bus-monitor/index.html

Their relatives have made a crowd-sourcing event (like the one we did on reddit) to appeal to the society to raise 5.000$, so she could be able to pay for a good holiday/travel, "The holiday of her life", because she deserved it. Guess what, she has got nearly 500.000$ from anonymous donations in two days!!!.

The crowd-sourcing event was posted in the page Indiegogo, which it is specialized in crowd-sourcing events ("The world funding platform") to fund every type of cause. They have several sections and one is dedicated to health issues.

Here is the link:
http://www.indiegogo.com/
http://www.indiegogo.com/projects?filter_category=Health -> You could see here some examples.
http://www.indiegogo.com/happiness/campaigner -> Very useful tips on how to make a succesful campaign! I suggest you to read these!!
http://www.indiegogo.com/loveforkarenhklein?c=home&a=748386 -> The campaign of this noble woman.

Maybe we could start a campaign for our NORD cause. Though it is impossible to replicate the success of this woman, every little contribution would add up and we could be near of our objective. What do you think?
I encourage you to do some brain-storm here, to try to present our cause in a simple, and at the same time, profound way that would need to appeal directly to the people´s compassion- without forgetting to back it with scientific sources and the material we have collected till now.

So if you want to collaborate, post your thoughts and ideas here or send me a PM. We would need a team like in our reddit experience to comment in this site. We could talk over it.

Cheers!
What would we do to get people to come to our campaign home page to donate.

Hi,  today I got my vitamin D level blood test.  My V D level is 2 whereas normal range is 30 to 70.  I am in severe deficient of Vit D. does Vit D has any link with auto immune diseases?
Nathan 123,

Your Vit D level is severely low!!

Do you know what specific Vit D test was performed? Was it the 25(OH)D test?  This is the most accurate test for Vit D deficiency, so please ask your doctor which test was done.

What does your doctor think is causing this serious deficiency, and what do you need to do to correct it?

Stef

my D3 was low last year when I had it checked, the level was 28.  I had my physician prescribe me vitamin D2 50,000IU once a week for 6 weeks.  After two doses the med made me feel weird and anxious and I had to stop taking it.  I have tried to start vitamin D3 regiments about 5 or 6 times with over the counter supplements on my own and the same side effects always start to happen after a few days.

It’s often mentioned that Niacin doesn’t work for everyone, and it could well be, BUT I have worked recently with at least 3 people on a one to one basis to help with the use of niacin, and it is a VERY precise process. If it’s not done JUST RIGHT, it doesn’t work. So I’m certain that many who have tried it and failed have just not applied the “rules” correctly and given up too soon.

It’s really worth trying to make it work, because when it works it’s amazing. I suggest that if you are one of those for which it hasn’t worked, that you get in contact with one of us on a one on one to try to see if you can’t make it work. I haven’t spoken to any of the others yet about this, but I’m sure ObserverCenter for instance would be glad to help out.

If you are one for which it works, perhaps you can volunteer here to receive PMs to help guide someone through. They are just simple things that one might miss or “do wrong”, but they make all the difference in the world.

It would be a shame to be suffering when it isn’t necessary.

Besides, if it is just a procedural thing, then we can move one step closer to understanding the mechanisms. If it’s just procedural but we think it’s a non-compatibility, then we understand the mechanism improperly. We misunderstand the reason for it not working in some.
Yeah, you are right Dave. The procedure should be followed VERY precisely, otherwise it won't work. This was the reason I thought that Niacin injection doesn't help me, when I have tried it very first time. But it helped me when I attempted to try it second time, in a month, because of despair. Also body needs to adapt to Niacin, very first intakes results in discomfort feelings in various areas, like area of stomach, heart or head.

I think there is also a possibility that tablets won't work for some, because of insufficient digestion. Flush effect is a good marker to determine whether Niacin digested good or not so good.

Anyone please feel free to send me a PM if you want a one to one guidance and support in trying Niacin.

Victor
You can purchase injectable nicotinic acid with a doctors prescription from any compounding pharmacy in the united states.  I had my doctor write an order for 100mg/1ml concentration.  If injected into the correct subcutaneous site, I have had a flush in less than 2 minutes.

!!! Feeling good or feeling bad about having and orgasm or using it for anxiety relief has nothing to do with POIS. If the silly Goldmeier theory was true then there would be hundreds of thousands of POIS already documented throughout the human history because of many obvious reasons. Nothing to really do with the psychological aspect of the whole damn thing.

But still... there could be something wrong with the brain - not physically (as people already had brain scans and no anomalies were seen) but maybe something on the more "autonomous" side of things with an interaction with some kind of an unknown and new factor (let's say 1950 - present) that was not present in the past. God knows :P
The absence of previously documented cases in our case does not suggest that POIS is a new phenomenon.  You may be correct that new external factors in our environment have precipitated this disease, but I think it has more to do with the rarity of the disease and the stigma surrounding it.  I believe the only reason it was first described by doctor Waldinger had to do with the fact that he "luckily had two patients" with the phenomenon and then decided to search for others.  I think if a physician were to encounter just one patient with pois during their career, but could not find another doctor or documentation of the disease listed anywhere, that they would dismiss it as psychosomatic.  Furthermore, doctors who looked into the symptoms may have come to the conclusion that their patient was suffering from Daht syndrome.  Documenting the case as Daht syndrome would there for never arise suspicions of a new disease.  The lack of "visible signs" and "objective data pieces", such as positive lab value and scans makes it real hard for a physician to believe that he is encountering a "real" and "new" disease.

As we know with organizations like NORD, that there are always new rare diseases being discovered.  Having objective abnormal data is the only thing that can solidify these as new diseases.  Knowing the etiology of the disease is not necessary, however what is necessary is showing scientist something concrete that they can all see and agree upon.  Without Waldingers study showing that a majority of POIS patients had positive allergy tests to their own semen, we would not have any objective data.  Whether, these positive semen allergies are relevant or not I don't know, but I do know that NORD would have not considered us as a new disease without them.

I am going to participate very soon in a POIS article that is going to appear in the Spain´s newspaper "El Mundo"- and its web-page: http://www.elmundo.es/ (3 million visitors each day, 1 million readers). They have asked me for help and i accepted. I told the journalist that i wanted them to raise the NORD research fund in the article and our current initiatives- and more: I told them that it must be stated very clearly that more research is needed to fight against this condition, despite the fact that some of us have had significant relief- and they completely agree with this view and are well informed. I will bring more news about this in a few days.
Thats awesome, I have lived in Spain twice and I know for a fact that the Spanish are much more open minded than Americans about things like this.

You should wait a month to see if the results are sustained  before reporting the effects of a one time use, especially the first use which often gives false results that are not sustained with further use.
Please Don't feel like I am trying to give you a hard time about reporting your results here.

Thats very interesting, let us know how it goes with L histadine.  I have considered trying it myself for quite a while, but have never gone through with buying it.

Hey all, serious question.  I know for sure I get POIS symptoms when I masturbate and I thought it was ONLY that. As I mentioned before I'm 19 and most of my time spent when I was a younger was on masturbating and video games, I barely went out at all. Now It wasn't easy but I stopped masturbating all together and the positive changes on how I think and feel are amazing, I felt good. But just recently I visited my moms for the weekend and I got my symptoms back after 3 days of getting sucked into the beta for the upcoming game Diablo 3. Somewhere in all that time playing I felt a numbing sensation come over my head and it all came back, I'm fatigued, I can't think clearly no matter what, and I can't be socially active. I mean, last week at school I was the complete opposite, I was feeling confident with clear thoughts and I had a response to everything, made people laugh and even flirted. Now, all I could do the last 2 days was stay quiet, yawn, put my head down, and to talk as little as possible because my mind is off, the same feelings after I masturbate days before. This pisses me off because I'm avoiding masturbation for this sole reason and now I find out gaming gives it to me as well, I'm not sure what to do or how to explain this to people, If I tell a doctor she might misdiagnose me thinking its something else, I feel I brought this upon myself after abusing my mind and body so much from the late nights but will this be permanent? What can I do to stop this?
But my real question is, do any of you get symptoms that are similar to POIS symptoms from anything else other than orgasms or masturbating?
Anything that give me a massive jolt of adrenaline with probably give me at least some minor pois symptoms

Hi everyone,

10 days back, I decided to not to have orgasm for next one or one and half month and I wanted to see how I will be free in Non-POIS period.

In this forum, I read that Niacin will reduce the POIS symptoms.  In our area, Niacin tablets is not available.  Hence I decided to use B.Complex (which contain Niacin) tablets instead of Niacin.  11 days back i decided to have orgasm and I have taken B.complex tablets 4 hours before the orgasm.  After 4 hours of orgasm, I took another B.complex tablet.  Further I also used Garlic.    In the first day of orgasm, I noticed reduction in POIS symptoms and I recovered from POIS symptoms in just 3 and half days completely.  From fourth day onwards I am completely relived from POIS symptoms and I started enjoying the days (after long time in my life) and i got peace in my mind.  From the fourth day I started meeting with my old friends and spend a time with them.  During these days, I was very happy, my concentration level is very high with good memory power and I was enjoying the days.
Yesterday, it was my 10th day after "O" and I gone to movie with my friends in a very good mood and enjoyment.  In the beginning of the movie, my mind has calmness, good concentration level and happiness exist.

In the middle of  movie there was a Romantic scene and Sexual scene for 5 minutes.   While watching the scene I was normal and I did't observed any thing at that time.  But after coming out from the theater I was experienced the first day of POIS symptoms.  I did't able to drive cleraly while going to home and my mind started to exhaust and my concentration level and memory power hit a worst and in the night (during sleep) i got many dreams (I usually got more dreams in POIS period, i don't know the reason why it is like this, I can say it is excessive dreaming that will happen in POIS period).   Today the symptoms reached worst.  The symptoms were same as second day after "O" and now it is confirmed for me that I experiencing POIS symptoms without had "O" and these symptoms triggered by just watching a 4 minutes romance and Sexual scene in a movie.

Hi, does anyone has experienced this? and how POIS triggered by just watching a sexual scene in a movie.

I have experienced this on a couple of occasions and dont view really explicit adult content on purpose anymore.  If you believe in Dr. Waldingers theory this could be easily explained by pre-ejaculatory fluid priming the ducting in your urethra and other reproductive lumens.  It is not necessary to see pre-ejaculatory fluid leaking from the penis for it to be present internally all throughout the ejaculatory ducting.

WOW you are right, pois is blowing up on reddit.  I tried to write a compelling story about suffering from pois to add in the comments, but it is buried at the very bottom of the 1200 + comments.  I know at least a couple people said they were going to donate, hopefully people will continue to learn about pois if the post can stay on the top of the list.

So now we have 2 candidates that inhibit PGD2 release: Diclofenac* and Laropiprant. We may have a third one: Quercetin: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18831918 and i've found 2 more: Luteolin and Aspirin (the last one is not so effective): http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18223672

Of the 5 candidates, 3 are drugs an 2 are supps. I suppose the effective dose in the supps is much different than the effective dose in the drugs. In the study, they talk about 1000mg (1 kg)of quercetin or luteolin per human. That is a lot, and would be very expensive.

I've also found this thread where they talk about it: http://www.hairlosstalk.com/interact/viewtopic.php?f=32&p=672064

They say that Niacin and Laropiprant target PGD2 "DP1" receptor (both in an inverse way), and that a new drug called "Setipripant" is in trials, and it will block PGD2 "DP2" receptor (that is the hair loss one).
But we are here because of Pois, not hair loss, so the "DP1" receptor (the Niacin one) may work well for us.

On the other hand, if we want something to enhance or mimmick  (and not inhibit) Niacin, we should look for something that releases PGD2, and 5-HT (Serotonin). In the above Pubmed links it clearly states that Niacin increases 5-HT levels. Maybe a good candidate would be "triptans"? I think recently someone said his doctor recommended triptans to him in relation to Pois.

Please,  if someone tries any drug or supplement always read the information leaflet before.
P.S.: And sorry if the Post is a bit too technical talk!!  ;D
* Mellivora already tried Diclofenac and it didn't work for him. Interestingly, Diclofenac was proposed by Dr.Goldmeier.
I would try a PGD2 agonist first not a PGD2 antagonist, I would think about maybe focusing on the vasodialatory effect of PGD2 and not try to counter it.  Anyways, NSAIDs are COX inhibitors, which are designed to block prostoglandins, so I am asuming that everyone on this sight has tried an over the counter (OTC) NSAID, which did not cure them.

Hey guys, i think i've found something. I know we have already too many theories, but this one makes a lot of sense:

Today on the news they said they have discovered that prostaglandin D2 (PGD2) is a key factor in male baldness.

One of my symptoms of Pois is that after having an O. i lose a lot of hair, and if i don't O's then my hair remains strong and i don't lose it.

Then i went to wikipedia and learned that PGD2 is related to Asthma and inflammation. And you know what? Another symptom of Pois, at least for me, is that it makes my asthma and my breathing efficiency quite worse.

But not only this. PGD2 is also related to the Niacin Flush. In fact, is what it causes it: "Research carried out in 1989[3] found that PGD2 is the primary mediator of vasodilation (the "niacin flush") after ingestion of niacin (nicotinic acid)."

Maybe the Niacin Flush is helping us, because it uses the PGD2 (in a different way than an O.) before having the O., and then the O. is not so harmful.

Does anyone know if exist a drug that inhibits PGD2?
