Physics, Astronomy & Cosmology / Is the schrodinger wave equation applicable to a stationary electron?
« on: 20/12/2016 09:29:07 »
S.D Sharma  asked the Naked Scientists:

When the quantum number l is zero the angular momentum is zero and hence the electron is stationary. What is the location of stationary electron in the atom. Is the Schrodinger wave equation applicable to a stationary electron?
What do you think?

Physics, Astronomy & Cosmology / How is the repulsive force of electron clouds overcome in a molecule?
« on: 09/04/2010 12:12:40 »
how is the repulsive force of electronic clouds surrounding each proton of two hydrogen atoms is overcome when hydrogen molecule is formed?

Physics, Astronomy & Cosmology / Why is the energy of rigid rotator the sum of two energy terms?
« on: 05/04/2010 08:00:16 »
hi soul surfer
i am very sorry that my question was not stated explicitly.I mean that in the expression for energy of oscillator involving sum of two energy terms second energy terms is called zero point energy similarly is there any significance attached two rigid rotator energy which is also sum of two energy terms
thanks for your effort

hi lightarrow
i mean rigid rotator in quantum mechanics. As there is explanation for two energy terms of simple harmonic oscillator is there any explanation for two energy terms involved in total energy of rigid rotator?

why the energy of rigid rotator is the sum of two energy terms

MOD EDIT - ONCE AGAIN, YOU HAVE STARTED A THREAD WITHOUT USING A QUESTION IN THE SUBJECT BOX - THE BOX SAYS "YOUR QUESTION" - KINDLY PUT A QUESTION IN THERE IN FUTURE.

hi raghavendra
is the value of constants like Plancks constant ,permittivity etc. is the same in moving frame and stationary frame?

Physics, Astronomy & Cosmology / Why are universal constants the same for different reference frames?
« on: 02/04/2010 08:04:41 »
why the value of universal constants involving dimensions of length ,time and mass is the same in the moving frame and stationary frame

Chemistry / What is the source of bond energy for a hydrogen molecule?
« on: 26/03/2010 11:47:05 »
when hydrogen atom is formed by the combination of electron and proton initially separated by in finite distance energy is released and hence hydrogen atom is expected to be stable but it is highly unstable because it stabilizes itself by combining with other hydrogen atom with release of bond energy .Why is it so?What is the source of bond energy?

Physics, Astronomy & Cosmology / Why does a train platform appear to move?
« on: 26/03/2010 11:32:39 »
when the train is moving the railway platform appears to be moving in opposite direction which is due to the motion of the image of the platform on the retina in the opposite direction to that  of the train. Is it true that motion of train is real because force has been applied to the train while motion of platform is apparent and hence two frames are not equivalent?

Physics, Astronomy & Cosmology / Does the frequency of produced photons depend on the reference frame?
« on: 25/03/2010 07:25:03 »
will the frequency of photons that reaches the stationary frame after annihilation of electron and positron in the moving frame be same as when positron and electron are annihilated in the stationary frame?

is action at distance possible in plants

15
Physics, Astronomy & Cosmology / Where would a stationary electron reside in an atom?
« on: 18/03/2010 08:45:30 »
when quantum number l of electron is zero, angular momentum is zero, hence the electron is stationary.

Is the schrodinger wave equation applicable to stationary electrons? Where is the stationary electron located in the atom?

16
Physics, Astronomy & Cosmology / How do you explain the energy of an oscillating system?
« on: 25/01/2010 11:58:17 »
the energy of rigid rotator is sum of two energy terms. can its significance be explained in the same manner as energy of oscillator

MOD EDIT - Please format the subject as a question.  It even says "Your Question:" now instead of "Subject".
