Why is Indonesia having repeated earthquakes? And, why is this whole area so prone to quakes?

complicated converging plates.

The Australian Plate (Indian Ocean) is being subducted underneath the western side of Indonesia (which sits on the Eurasian plate), while the Philipine/Molluca and Pacific plates are being subducted on the eastern side.  Phillipines are similar, which is why both nations have numerous earthquakes and volcanos.

Just the normal large-scale adjustment - not to worry, unless you live over there.

recent natural disasters aside from quakes are also happening especially about the hot mud in Sidoarjo!!
I bet mother nature's gone mad and it's all thanks to those who treats nature badly

I don't think there's a lot we've done that could affect tectonic plates & hence cause earthquakes.

In my opinion, that some of the reasons for the Indonesian earthquakes going on so
frequently is because of the Tectonic Plates colliding or pushing up against each other,
that was the reason for the Boxing Day, 2004's Tsunami.
Also on the exact same date in 2006, there was an earthquake in Hengchun, Taiwan.
The massive undersea Earthquakes felt in the area for about 600 miles. (can't do metric)

Scientists have also recently been studying the concept of the domino effect in terms of Earthquakes... this involves one earthquake shifting stresses and movements further along the faults... Scientists have observed and described subsequent earthquakes occurring in a wave like pattern away from the original tremor over the years following as a result of this. I believe turkey has been mentioned on this front... and some have questioned whether the huge 2004 Indonesia tremor may have had such an effect.

I found these earthquake related sites and they are showing more about
the reasons for the Domino Effects of the Indonesian and other Asian countries earthquakes for example, this year, 2008 in Thailand there'll be
another big earthquake like the Boxing Day 2004's Tsunamis affecting it's
coastal areas again.

But they are happening worldwide in the UK, US as well.
