OMG! what a film!!! The storyline is just one of the best storylines in any film! If you haven't seen it you really do need to!
Without spoiling it, women who studys the stars and listens to space for any noises from near stars that aliens could have possibly made. An she gets alot more than she bargained for  [:D]

Does anybody know any other science films that are like this, with just such a great storyline?

Muchas Gracias

The book "Contact" was written by Carg Sagan. He sought advice from some of academia's top scientists with regard wormholes.

As for the film, I think it's about the only one starring Jodie Foster that's worth watching.

The Andromeda Strain (the 1971 version) is an excellent film.

I'll check that out and the 2008 version if the older one is good!

Here's a few, you might want to view.

'Silent running' no aliens in that film though

'Explorers' one of my favs.

'Blackhole' an old Disney film, that's pretty good.

The Andromeda Strain (the 1971 version) is an excellent film.

I don't get the ref, it's set on Earth. Surely, TheHerbaholic, wants aliens, in space films? Not to undermine the great film 'The Andromeda strain' is.

Ouu '2001 a space odyssey' a definite must see

He asked for "science films with a great storyline" - I think the andromeda strain fits the bill.

I have to agree with you about "Silent Running" and "Explorers" though.

I'm sorry but I have never been able to watch 2001 space odyssey without falling to sleep. I realise the slow pace is supposed to build the tension but I'm sorry I find it tedious. I've never managed to watch it all the way through.

Same for me, tried to watch it and fell asleep only to wake up while the end crdits were scrolling.
