Tatyana Koreshkova asked the Naked Scientists:

Dear Naked Scientists,

Love your show podcast.

Do you know why baby girls develop faster than baby boys? Obviously there has to be an evolutionary explanation to it, related to reproduction. But does it also have to do with the male-female brain differences?

Thanks,

What do you think?

I think its because females generally have more estrogen in their body and estrogen are hormones that makes you develop faster, but for a shorter period of time. Thus explaining why girls reach puberty before boys and for a shorter period of time as well.
