HAHA. OMG. Dude Neil that totaly happened to us. I did that also. It didn't work so I went further back and further back. But what was weird is sometimes the internet will work and it will go away on the desktop, but it would work all the time on the laptop. So we skipped the router and it worked just fine on the desktop (but not on the laptop of course) and now i switched it over to the router again and it seems to be fine.. Hum..
Yes, the cause of this is dear old microsoft. A security fix in their latest round of updates is incompatible with zonealarm's firewall, leading to all net traffic being blocked.Chris
It's quite scary really isn't it. I was trying to work out, last night, how many hours were wasted around the planet by people fiddling with their PCs to "fix" them, and how much money phone consultancy and helpline companys made through people calling premium rate lines.I think Microsoft have cost us all, on aggregate, a lot of money. I certainly spent quite a while sorting out what was wrong with my laptop when it suddenly refused to see the Internet last weekend.Chris
It's quite funny. My ISP didn't know ANYTHING about his. Haha
