This is a great series showing some interesting aspects of neurology with arms that have a mind of their own and get up to all sorts of things without the person knowing what their other limb is doing.

Two people had damage to their brain and now speak with a foreign accent, one gentleman who was a broad Londoner now speaks like an Italian who is learning English. Whereas the Lady now speaks like a Ukrainian who has learned to speak English with a touch of French thrown in for good measure.

Another guy was obsessed with amputating his leg because he felt it was not his own.

Good to see you on the box again Chris.

Science is continually evolving. Nothing is set in stone. Question everything and everyone. Always consider vested interests as a reason for miss-direction. But most of all explore and find answers that you are comfortable with

An important point about foregin accent syndrome is that the person is not imitating a foreign accent, it is mispronunciation which sounds like a foreign accent, (or a weird mixture of accents).

Another well known case is that of Judi Roberts, also known as Tiffany Noel, who was born and raised in Indiana, USA. In 1999, at the age of 57, she had a stroke. After recovering her voice, she spoke with an English accent, a mixture of cockney and West Country, despite never having been to Britain

The interesting thing about this is that even Chris didn't know it was on!  They told him it wouldn't be broadcast until later this year.

He was actually emailed twice with the relevant information, so that is indeed interesting.
